married Wilma Elizabeth Sterett on June 12, 1943 in Pensacola, Florida. She preceded him on May 4, 1971.

Burial in Biggsville Cemetery in Biggsville

Surviving are two sons; Jim Work of Biggsville, IL, David Work and Fran of Gladstone, IL, two grandsons; Eric Work and Katie of Burlington, IA, and Alex Work of Gladstone. Also surviving is one sister, Mary Theis of Long Wolf, OK, great-granddaughter, Audrey Work of Burlington, and a number of nieces and nephews. Dick was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Dr. Emma Burt, brothers; Raymond Work and Robert M. Work, Jr., sisters-in-law, Minna Work and Evelyn Work, and brothers-in-law, Charles Burt and Tom Theis
