born April 17, 1838 at Cayuga, Cayuga County New York of Scotch Irish Ancestry
He moved to Ohio in 1841, then to Abingdon, Ill. a d later to Galesburg. In 1857 he came to Henderson
County.
Died at home in Oquawka Jan. 8, 1902
Burial in Oquawka Cemetery
His father died leaving his mother and sisters Mrs. Martha Lee, deceased and Mrs. B.B. Risley of
Galesburg.
He married Mary Jane Davenport Feb. 19, 1863 and six children were born to them, four of whom are
living. Oscar of Alexis, Elfred of Belmont, Mrs. R.E. Morse of Oquawka and Louis, who is still at
home.
survived by wife, a daughter Mrs. James (Ella Louise) Mackey of East Moline, three grandchildren, and
four great-grandchildren. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a brother and two
sisters.
