Adaline Birdsall

Private funeral services for Mrs. Adeline Birdsall were held this afternoon at 4 o'clock at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Lester Barnum, 220 South Eighth street, in charge of Dr. A. A. Graham, pastor of the Second United Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Birdsall was born in Otsego county, New York, on August 17, 1843. On Christmas Day, 1855, the family started from New York for Illinois, settling in Henderson County near Ellison, where Mrs. Birdsall lived until 187? when she with her husband and four children went to Emporia, Kas. where she lived until a few years ago when she came to make her hme with her sister, Mrs. P. A. Birdsall, at Emerson, Iowa.

Last December she came for an extended visit with her great niece, Mrs. Lester Barnum and friends near Monmouth, and while visiting at the home of Mrs. Mary Jackson at Biggsville was stricken with paralysis. After three weeks of suffereing she was brought to the Barnum home where she remained until death released her yesterday soon after noon.

M rs. Barnum shared the care of her aunt with another niece, Mrs. ????????????and nothing was left undone that would minister to the venerable suferer's comfort.

The remains, accompanied by Mrs. Martin, will be takn to Emerson Iowa, on Burlington train No.3 tomorrow morning, and funeral services will be held there in the afternoon at the Methodist Episcopal church, of which Mrs. Birdsall was a member. She will be laid to rest in the family lot there by the side of her son and daughter.
